Common questions often asked about Aquatron by our clients or environmental representatives
| 1 |
If I have an Aquatron, do I need a septic tank and/or infiltration? |
The Aquatron separator separates the solids in the black-water and composts it in the bio-chamber, the flush-water containing the urine (if not using urine diverting toilets) is recommended to pass through our UV-filter in order to treat the bacteria, then treated with the rest of the grey-water from the house respecting the local environmental laws. We recommend using a settling tank and an infiltration. |
| 2 |
Can I connect the outlet on the toilet straight on the Aquatron separator? |
No, you need at least one metre of distance between the toilet and Aquatron separator. |
| 3 |
What is the maximum distance between the toilets and the Aquatron Separator? |
In theory there is no maximum distance, it’s just more important to respect the angle of the pipe slopes (1%) when using long distances, we know clients in Ireland and Sweden having 60 metres between their house and the Aquatron installation. If a client has more than 16 metres horizontal between the toilets and the Aquatron separator we recommend using toilets with at least a 4 litresflush to ensure the best function of the system and the transporting of solids to the Aquatron separator. |

Why spend extra money on an Aquatron system when you recommend using a settling tank (septic tank without solids) and not just do like others, connect the toilets straight to the septic tank? |
While using an Aquatron system your waste water system becomes more ecocyclic, the separated solids will compost, you won’t let any solids into your septic tank (therefor we prefer to call it settling chamber). You don’t need the “sludge-truck” to come and pump the solids once your septic tank is full. You will only have to pump a few litres of sludge every year and compost it in the bio-chamber. In Sweden the environmental laws oblige all users of septic tanks to pump their tanks with a “sludge-truck” once a year , while Aquatron users can ask for a dispensation. |
